Patrick Hazel was born and raised in Queens, NY. After playing two years of Varsity Basketball at Bayside High School, Patrick decided to to finish his remaining high school years at Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ.
With a great academic reputation and it's most famous basketball alums Luol Deng and Charlie Villanueva, Patrick worked extremely hard on and off the court at the small school in New Jersey. The Blair Academy Varsity squad won the MAPL Championship in 2006 and Patrick was After averaging eight points and eight rebounds his senior year at Blair and playing alongside numerous Division 1 players, Patrick was offered to play at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
Playing in the Big East for two years gave Patrick the opportunity to play alongside former teammates Wesley Matthews and Jimmy Butler who are currently in the NBA. Marquette made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament in 2008 and 2009. After a coaching change, Patrick decided to transfer to Boston University with hopes of playing closer to home and still having an opportunity to win. In his two years as captain of the BU squad, the team won an America East championship in 2011 and competed against Kansas as a 16-seed in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament. Patrick averaged 7 points, 6 rebounds, and finished 2nd all-time in blocked shots at Boston University with 110 rejections in two years. He also earned All-Conference honors in both of his years of eligibility at BU.
After graduating from BU in May 2012, Patrick started working with Fastbreak Sports that Fall and enjoys giving back to the game that gave so much to him. He encourages every athlete that he works with to play through mistakes, to remain confident and to give 100% effort every opportunity they have to step on the court.
