Metro United Program
What is Metro United?
Metro United is a partnered program between Fastbreak Sports, Basketball Stars of New York, and Downtown Wolves with the aim of providing our most driven athletes the coaching and competition they crave. Each team will require the highest level of commitment as the team will practice one to two times per week with their coach and play in the most competitive tournaments. Spots are extremely limited and invite only, determined through a rigorous recommendation process based on previous play.
Teams will be coached by Max Sass (former DIII head coach) and Jason Posser (15 years as a D1 and DII assistant coach). Kyle Bohan (PSA Cardinals assistant coach) will serve as Director of Player Development, while Romel Jackson (Emmanuel College) will be the program’s Director of Player Personnel.
The season will run from September through June. Players will practice with their teams one to two times per week and play in weekend tournaments. Metro United players will also be encouraged to attend additional Elite Training Academy Skills Sessions throughout the school year.
The program will feature three distinct seasons:
The Fall season will be from early September to early November, and the teams will play in ~3 weekend tournaments in the tri-state area.
The Winter season will be from November to March, and the teams will play in the 55 Swish Travel Basketball League’s most competitive division, based out of Basketball City in Lower Manhattan.
The Spring season will be from April to June, and the teams will play in ~5 weekend tournaments, with at least one overnight trip. Families should be prepared for weekend travel, weeknight practices and week-of schedule releases from Tournament Directors. Be prepared to travel into Westchester, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania or other locations.
